Transformation And Healing
Sub-point – The River of feelings
In this point author says that feelings play a very important role in our lives, feelings direct all our thoughts and actions,  author says that feelings river flows inside us, and every single drop of water in that river has different type of feelings, and every feeling depends or relies on other things for its existence. The author says in order to identify each feeling we need to sit on the bank of that river and needs to identify each feeling as its surface, we need to understand its flow as well as it disappearance,

The author says usually there is three type of feelings first pleasant second unpleasant and third neutral.

The author says that when you face unpleasant feelings, then at that type you think of running away from it, but instead of doing it you should sit down and should return to our conscious breathing and should observe it, should identify it silently in ourselves. Like while breathing in you should say to yourself that I know that unpleasant feeling is in me, while breathing out again you should say that yes I know unpleasant feeling is inside me, it would be better if you call that unpleasant or pleasant feeling with name such as anger, upset, sad, stress, happiness, joy etc. this helps you to identify that feeling clearly and deeply. We can use our breathing to connect and stay in contact with our feelings and also it will help to accept them.

Transforming Feelings

Here author says that the very first step to deal with feelings is to recognize those feelings as it arises in you, author says the agent which does it is known as mindfulness, here author has given an example of fear author says when you feel that fear at that time bring out your mindfulness and loot at your fear and recognize that unpleasant feeling as fear, You understand that fear comes and springs out from you as well as mindfulness, both fear (unpleasant feelings) and mindfulness in you within you, author says that both stay not by fighting but by one taking care of other. Hence you should keep them both inside you by making them handling each other not by fighting.

Author says second way to handle feelings or transforming feelings is to become one with the feeling it is better if you don’t say your fear feeling to go away, it is better to not to say go away fear I don’t like you, instead of saying this it is much more effective to say hello fear, it’s better to ask your fear how are you?  And when you understand and realize this then you can ask both aspects to shake hands mindfulness and fear and ask both to become friends, doing this can look or seem frightening, but you must understand that you are much more than your fear, hence you don’t need to be afraid, as long as mindfulness is there in you, it will for sure handle your fear. Hence do practice breathing in order to nourish your mindfulness.

You are much more than your fear, you just need to nourish your mindfulness with proper practice of breathing techniques and ways, mindfulness will handle your fear or unpleasant feelings.
